Jim Moran

Jim Moran knows the value of a good impression.

Following 29 years as a printer’s devil, pressman, partner and owner at Moran’s Quality Print Shop in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Jim is now the Director of the Hamilton Wood Type & Printing Museum, where he maintains and documents the world’s largest collection of wood type, runs and repairs the museum’s collection of antique presses, teaches and runs workshops in letterpress printing, archives and restores the Museum’s collection of 20th century decorative and advertising plates, and oversees all facets of museum operation.

He has presented talks and run workshops at the AIGA National Convention, TypeCon (Milwaukee), Fossil World Headquarters (Dallas), Minneapolis Institute of Art, Columbia Center for Book and Paper Art (Chicago), School of Visual Concepts (Seattle) and APHA Annual Conference (Washington DC). He is currently moving the museum’s 35,000 square feet of type and equipment into a new home in Two Rivers, Wisconsin.
